SLGI Trains form the West branch of SLGI Transport System, the East branch is known as SLGI Fleet. All vehicles are released into circulation according to their schedules. The name SLGI comes from Second Life Geography Institute. They are operated by the SLGI team.

SLGI Trains operate the following base:

The SLGI Fleet operates the following bases:

There is no service on Bellisseria or the Premium Continents, as land there does not allow objects entry and a route can only be designed for a very short distance.

Schedule[]

IMPORTANT: To avoid making problems on the railway, there will be only 4 trains a day on each direction, at every 6 hours. Around Achemon, there can be seen more trains, since they are detached here and they return here.

The departure/arrival position is Achemon (22, 242, 80), House Of Freedom.

To see the schedule for all SLGI trains, please go to SLGI Vehicle Schedule.

South Trains[]

The South trains are detached at Achemon, then they travel South, into Sansara, where they reach remote railways or they give access to places not serviced by other transport companies.

SLGI Train Bay[]

SLGI Bay

Second Life Geography

SLGI designated code: WS1

Reason: Since the railway station in Bay City was first opened, many residents wowed for a rail connection between Bay City Railway and Heterocera railway network. This never came to be. At times, a ferry existed, linking the rail terminal in Bay City with the rail terminal in Tuliptree, Heterocera. At the time when SLGI team designed the train to Bay City, there was no direct service.

Route: The train detaches from House Of Freedom, Achemon. From there, it follows the main railway line towards Tuliptree railway end. From there, the train turns on its flying engine and heads towards the ANWR Channel (see Transcontinental Channels), reaching Sansara. Following safe waterways in the North-West part of Sansara, the train reaches Gulf Of Lauren and finally reaches the railway terminal in Manyiminya, from where it moves as a train along the railway network of Bay City.

Status: Operating this train is a honour for SLGI team. It offers a scheduled connection between Bay City (who is not connected by roads or rails, only by tight air and waterways) to the rest of the world.

Details:

  • Continents: Sansara, Heterocera
  • Main objective: reach Bay City railway network
  • Secondary objective: explore the waterways of North-West Sansara
  • Invisibility is used only once, while passing through the residential Celadon sim.
  • Teleporting is not used.
  • Fuel changing is not done along the route.
  • Speed is set to 30% on railway, 40% in crowded area and 50% in water sims.

Length:

  • One-way trip: 48 minutes
  • Round trip: 1 hour and 37 minutes
  • Distance (round trip): 21.06 km
    • On Heterocera: 4.21 km
    • Flying: 14.60 km
    • Bay City railway: 2.27 km

Schedule: Trains are released at 0.00, 6.00, 12.00 and 18.00. Given the fact that a round trip takes 1 hour and 37 minutes, it means that, during a day, there is a 27% chance that one train is flying on this route. The train follows a common route with other trains along the ANWR Channel and on Heterocera railways.

Facts: This is the first flying train developed by the SLGI team.

SLGI Train ONSR[]

SLGI ONSR

Second Life Geography

SLGI designated code: WS2

Reason: Since the days when the ONSR railway was built in the Snowlands Subcontinent, there have been people requesting it to be further extended North. There have been dreamers envisioning a railway linking through entire Sansara to Heterocera. One proposal was for a link that would partially be a tram and partially an underwater metro. However, nothing has become reality. This is the reason why the SLGI team has built this train.

Route: Like most South trains, the train to ONSR forms in Achemon and heads South along the main railway in Heterocera, towards the Tuliptree railway end station. From there, it turns on its flying engine and heads South along the ANWR Channel. Once it enters Sansara, the train flies at a high altitude along a path that is commonly known by SLGI team as the Linden Highway, an almost straight North to South coastal waterway, followed by many SLGI trains. Along this way, the train makes a few stops at bridges (most known being the Amida Bridge). From there, the train continues flying at 100 m high, above roads. One can notice that, as the ship approaches the Snowlands, altitude increases and the ground gets closer to the flying train. Inside the Snowlands, if possible, the train follows waterways, which are at slightly lower elevation. From Wengen, the flying engine is turned off and the train moves using its train engine along the ONSR tracks, following the railway all the way to its Southern terminal in Smithers Bluff.

Status: Operating this train is a honour for SLGI team and a tribute to the builder of the ONSR, which has spent many years aquiring land and constructing the railway through the snowy terrain.

Details:

  • Continents: Sansara, Heterocera
  • Main objective: reach the Snowlands railway of ONSR
  • Secondary objective: explore the Snowlands Subcontinent, explore the landmass of Central Sansara
  • Invisibility is not used.
  • Teleporting is not used.
  • Fuel changing is done once, at the end of the route (Smithers Bluff).
  • Speed is set to 30% on railway, 40% in crowded area and 50% in water sims.

Length:

  • One-way trip: 1 hour and 20 minutes
  • Round trip: 2 hours and 44 minutes
  • Distance (round trip): 31.05 km
    • On Heterocera: 4.21 km
    • Flying: 14.60 km
    • ONSR railway track: 5.82 km

Schedule: Trains are released at 1.00, 7.00, 13.00 and 19.00. Given the fact that a round trip takes 2 hours and 44 minutes, it means that, during a day, there is a 46% chance that one train is flying on this route. The train follows a common route with other trains along the Linden Highway, the ANWR Channel and on Heterocera railways.

Facts: While flying along this train, one can notice the huge difference between North and South Sansara, mainly the change in elevation. While the land in North shows lower elevations, in South, it almost blocks the train from reaching the ONSR.

SLGI Train GSLR[]

SLGI GSLR

Second Life Geography

SLGI designated code: WS3

Reason: The GSLR is the oldest existing railway in Second Life, it is private-owned and it proudly stands in front of time. The railway is connected to the rail network of Heterocera through a regular ferry. SLGI team considers a great responsibility the fact that it was granted access to offer a scheduled service on the legendary GSLR.

Route: The train to GSLR follows a bit different route. It runs from the SLGI base in Achemon along the main railway towards Calleta, where it enters the railway track that GSLR owns in Heterocera. After passing along this rail to Cecropia end station, the train turns on its flying engine and flies at low altitude along the ANWR Channel, not intersecting other flying trains, reaching the GSLR terminal in Purple, Sansara. From there, the train runs along the GSLR for its entire length until Mocca station, then turns back to reach the newly built Teal station. Along the way, the train has to teleport twice to cross some parcels with restricted access.

Status: The SLGI team is thankful to the owners of GSLR tracks for allowing a scheduled service to run. Because the GSLR runs along a narrow path, special safety protocols are in place, to avoid the train to entering nearby parcels or getting stuck. Trains with too many prims are forbidden on this line.

Details:

  • Continents: Sansara, Heterocera
  • Main objective: reach the historical GSLR line
  • Secondary objective: fly at low altitude along the ANWR channel
  • Invisibility is not used.
  • Teleporting is used twice, once in Calleta and once in Periwinkle.
  • Fuel changing is not done.
  • Speed is set to 30% on railway and 50% along the ANWR channel.

Length:

  • One-way trip: 29 minutes
  • Round trip: 59 minutes
  • Distance (round trip): 10.29 km
    • On Heterocera protected railways: 2.78 km
    • Flying (ANWR Channel): 2.37 km
    • On GSLR railway track in Heterocera: 0.89 km
    • On GSLR railway track in Sansara: 4.16 km

Schedule: Trains are released at 2.00, 8.00, 14.00 and 20.00. Given the fact that a round trip takes 59 minutes, it means that, during a day, there is a 16% chance that one train is flying on this route. The train follows a common route with other trains along the ANWR Channel and on Heterocera railways.

Facts: This is the shortest route along all SLGI trains and the only South train that runs more on railway than it does flying.

SLGI Train Dams[]

SLGI Dams

Second Life Geography

SLGI designated code: WS4

Reason: The main purpose of this train is to offer a link between the main railway network of Heterocera and the many railway initiatives that existed or still exist inside Sansara. The train also reaches the three large Dams built in Sansara (hence its name).

Route: This train follows a very long route, reaching out to many places in Sansara. At first, it runs along the main railway in Heterocera towards Tuliptree terminal, then flies over the ANWR Channel (see Transcontinental Channels). Once in Sansara, the train flies along the Linden Highway, a common route also followed by SLGI Train ONSR, to Amida Bridge. From there, the train flies above roads towards the Ganymede Dam, then enters the Snowlands Subcontinent through North-East, also crossing the Moons Subcontinent, in an area where two attempts of building railways existed in past. It reaches the less-known Snowlands South-East coast and then follows the Snowlands River to reach the ONSR railway terminal in Wengen, but without entering the railway. As altitude is extremely high in the Snowlands, the train takes a different approach, flying up to 200 m high and passing over the dangerous Anzere Pass, to exit the Snowlands and reach the Sugarloaf Dam. From there, the train advances far South to Schell, on the far South Coat of Sansara Highlands. Crossing at low elevation through deep rivers, the train advances through the bottom of Sutherland Abyss, to reach Sutherland Dam and give border contact to Sutherland Junction Railway. Moving North, the train then heads towards East River Railway, where it has border contact with it. Flying at high altitude, the train further advances North-East, reaching its final destination, the North Islanders borderline.

Status: The SLGI team developed this train as a tribute to past and present railway attempts in Sansara. The route is extremely long and difficult, crossing various types of terrain.

Details:

  • Continents: Sansara, Heterocera
  • Main objective: reach past and present railway initiatives in Sansara
  • Secondary objectives: reach the dams of Sansara, explore the various Geographic features of Sansara, offer a comprehensive view of the diversity of Sansara's land features
  • Invisibility is is used twice, once close to the end of the route and once close to Sutherland Dam
  • Teleporting is used in the East Snowlands, once
  • Fuel changing is done once, at the end of the route
  • Speed is set to 30% on railway, 40% in crowded area and 50% in water sims.

Length:

  • One-way trip: 2 hours and 22 minutes
  • Round trip: 4 hours and 46 minutes
  • Distance (round trip): 64.73 km
    • On Heterocera: 4.21 km
    • Flying: 60.52 km
    • Between Heterocera and Snowlands: 15,98 km
    • Inside Snowlands: 11.89 km
    • After Snowlands: 32.65 km

Schedule: Trains are released at 3.00, 9.00, 15.00 and 21.00. Given the fact that a round trip takes 4 hours and 46 minutes, it means that, during a day, there is a 79% chance that one train is flying on this route. The train follows a common route with other trains along the ANWR Channel and on Heterocera railways.

Facts: The train was firstly named SLGI Train YS + Dams as it symbolized friendship between the SLGI and the YavaScript Pods. Later its name was simplified to show that the three transcontinental companies of that time, the YavaScript Pods, the SLTA and the SLGI are independent companies, not linked one to another and unaffiliated to any land barons or Linden officials.

SLGI Train Islands[]

SLGI Islands

Second Life Geography

SLGI designated code: WS5

Reason: The main purpose of this train is to reach some areas of Sansara that lack any public transport services. The SLGI team designed this train as a transport alternative for these remote areas.

Route: For the firdt part of the route, this train follows a common path with SLGI Train ONSR and sLGI Train Dams, along the main railway in Heterocera, from Achemon to Tuliptree, then along the ANWR Channel. Flying through the West Volcano Subcontinent, the train then heads towards the East Volcano Subcontinent, where it advances flying above waterways to Mount G'al, an active volcano, teleporting through the mountain. The train then heads towards Nuba, where it flies above waterways, teleporting a few times. It runs using its partial invisibility to Urdu, Sansara's Northernmost sim, then returns South, flying at 100 m altitude. After reaching Ross, it heads West, crossing the Sea Of Fables, to reach Sutherland. From there, it explores Sansara's Lost River, where it flies, using invisibility, all the way to the river's end point of navigation.

Status: The SLGI team considers operating this train through remote and less explored regions of Sansara as a great privilege and is thankful to the residents who suggested this kind of journey.

Details:

  • Continents: Sansara, Heterocera
  • Main objective: explore less visited areas of Sansara, which lack road access or have limited water access
  • Secondary objectives: explore the volcanic subcontinents of Sansara, explore the different terrains found in North-East of Sansara
  • Invisibility is used multiple times in residential areas: inside East Volcano Subcontinent, inside Nuba and along the Lost River.
  • Teleporting is used once in East Volcano Subcontinent, once three times in Nuba and once to reach the Lost River.
  • Fuel changing is done once, at the end of the route, at the navigation end of Lost River.
  • Speed is set to 30% on railway, 40% in crowded area and rivers and 50% in water sims.

Length:

  • One-way trip: 2 hours and 9 minutes
  • Round trip: 4 hours and 18 minutes
  • Distance (round trip): 51.49 km
    • On Heterocera: 4.21 km
    • Flying: 47.28 km
    • Through less-access areas: 20.15 km

Schedule: Trains are released at 4.00, 10.00, 16.00 and 22.00. Given the fact that a round trip takes 4 hours and 18 minutes, it means that, during a day, there is a 72% chance that one train is flying on this route. The train follows a common route with other trains along the ANWR Channel and on Heterocera railways.

Facts: Initially, this train was developed to reach the Sutherland Junction Railway, but the job came to SLGI Train Dams. While limted at Ross for a while, the train was expanded to its current route after two suggestions were made from two different residents.

SLGI Train Historical[]

SLGI Historical

Second Life Geography

SLGI designated code: WS6

Reason: The historical area, where Second Life came into existence, deserves a special approach. Reaching The Old World, located in the Western reaches of Sansara, is a huge privilege and also a challenging responsibility.

Route: Unlike all other SLGI trains, the SLGI Train Historical takes a different route. It flies only for a very short distance, which it uses to power-up its reactors. Following a high altitude above the railway, the trainheads to Calleta, then takes the shortest route through the ANWR Channel, making a stop at Purple for access to GSLR then heads South along the Linden Highway, flying at a slightly lower elevation to allow for higher speeds. From Amida Bridge, the train heads West, entering the oldest part of the grid, where it uses invisibility to avoid causing any discomfort to the residents living there. The train reaches the eye in the hand which is located at Omidyar, then heads to Da Boom, the primordial sim, where it stops at a private dock.

Status: By far, SLGI team considers that reaching the ancient shores of The Old World is one of the most precious tasks we have to fulfil. This train was designed with less stops and a faster route, like an expressway, to facilitate a quick transit between the SLGI base in Heterocera and the legendary areas of Old Sansara.

Details:

  • Continents: Sansara, Heterocera
  • Main objective: reach the oldest part of the world, Da Boom sim
  • Secondary objectives: compare The Old World with newer landmasses
  • Invisibility is used while flying around Da Boom, in The Old World.
  • Teleporting is not used.
  • Fuel changing is not used.
  • Speed is set to 30% on railway, 40% in crowded area and rivers and 50% in water sims.

Length:

  • One-way trip: 47 minutes
  • Round trip: 1 hour and 36 minutes
  • Distance (round trip): 21.15 km
    • On Heterocera railways: 0.75 km
    • Flying on Heterocera and the ANWR: 1.36 km
    • In Sansara along the Linden Highway: 7.51 km
    • Along old part of Sansara: 6.02 km

Schedule: Trains are released at 5.00, 11.00, 17.00 and 23.00. Given the fact that a round trip takes 1 hour and 36 minutes, it means that, during a day, there is a 27% chance that one train is flying on this route. The train avoids common routes if possible.

Facts: The chosen route to Da Boom, although slightly longer, is in fact the safest one, as on other routes there are parcels that don't allow objects to enter.

North Trains[]

The Northern trains operate on Heterocera continent, along its many railways.

SLGI Train Bhaga[]

SLGI Bhaga

Second Life Geography

SLGI designated code: WN1

Reason: The basic startup railway trip along the rails of Heterocera is a trip along the mainline, from Tuliptree to Bhaga. The term bhaga depicts a state of fulfilment in Buddhism, something related to the happiness one should feel at the end of the journey. Therefore, any railway transport company must have a vehicle designed to reach Bhaga railway terminal station.

Route: The train detaches from House Of Freedom, Achemon. It follows the SLRR main line for its entire length until it reaches Bhaga. Along the way, trains pass through the inner slopes of Mountains Of Heterocera, which often come with breathtaking landscapes. Trains follow a common route towards East, from Achemon to Crenulate, where some trains turn North on the Mountain Line, to avoid traffic congestion. The trains to Bhaga follow the main line and starting from Crumbi they descend into the plains, approaching the ocean and finally reaching Bhaga in South-East. There are some parts where the line is double-track. In such areas, trains stick on right.

Status: As the first train to run along the main line in Heterocera, the Bhaga train was put first in the schedule among all North trains. This train was long requested to have scheduled stops at all stations.

Details:

  • Continents: Heterocera
  • Main objective: offer a scheduled train service along the main railway line, between Achemon and Bhaga
  • Secondary objective: explore the mountains of Heterocera, provide access to the many railway-themed buildings along the line and reach the port terminal of Bhaga
  • Invisibility is not used.
  • Teleporting is not used.
  • Fuel changing is done once, at the end of the route.
  • Speed is set to 30% on railway.

Length:

  • One-way trip: 1 hour and 10 minutes
  • Round trip: 2 hours and 9 minutes
  • Distance (round trip): 21.06 km
    • Achemon - Crenulate sector: 14.51 km
    • Crenulate - Bhaga sector: 6.55 km

Schedule: Trains are released at 0.01, 6.01, 12.01 and 18.01. Given the fact that a round trip takes 2 hours and 9 minutes, it means that, during a day, there is a 36% chance that one train is flying on this route. The train follows a common route with other trains along its entire path.

Facts: This train was firstly conceived as a roaming vehicle, without scheduled timetables. It was the first train to run entirelly on tracks (without flying) and the first to run North from Achemon.

SLGI Train WARRyucca[]

SLGI WARRyucca

Second Life Geography

SLGI designated code: WN2

Reason: As a tribute to the old, defunct, WARR, which once was a glorious railway, as well as a way to offer some access to the North-West of Heterocera, which never had railway access although some residents hoped for it, the SLGI team has built the WARRyucca train. It has the longest and most difficult route along all North SLGI trains.

Route: This train forms a large loop along the atoll, which, as seen on the map, is a lrge horseshoe. Detached in Achemon, at the SLGI base, the train follows the main railway as SLGI Train Bhaga does, until it reaches Tenera. From there, the train turns North and follows the North-East railway lines, advancing to Plusia and Spangle During its journey, the train follows the railways and stops at all stations Where the line is double-track, trains run on right side. From there, the train turns West along the Great Northern Railway, which is the quietest of all railways in Heterocera and passes through a mostly rural, hilly terrain. After reaching Yucca railway end, the train turns West and then South, flying above the roads, the train can show the surprising altitude variations found along the Eastern part of the continent. In South-East, the train mostly runs along the former tracks of the WARR, which have long been abandoned. After briefly following a tiny part of the WARR that has been rebuilt, the train advances on the main line from Neumoegen back to Achemon, to the base, where it changes fuel and returns the same way back.

Status: This train is a tribute to the former glory of the WARR, to the railways in North Heterocera and to the old times when the Great Northern line was built, WARR was functional and some residents hoped for a link in the North-East part of the continent.

Details:

  • Continents: Heterocera
  • Main objective: offer a scheduled service along the former WARR tracks, explore the North-West part of the continent
  • Secondary objective: offer an integrated, scheduled service along the Great Northern railway, offer passengers a link with the railway network in Southern Heterocera, explore the huge diversities of terrains found on the continent
  • Invisibility is not used.
  • Teleporting is used 3 times along the former WARR tracks.
  • Fuel changing is done 3 times, twice at Melanthia station and once in Achemon.
  • Speed is set to 30% on railway, but can rise to 90% along some WARR track sectors. Flying speed is usually set at 40% for safety reasons.

Length:

  • One-way trip: 2 hours and 43 minutes
  • Round trip: 5 hours and 26 minutes
  • Distance (round trip): 55.38 km
    • Railway movement: 33.86 km
    • Flying movement: 21.52 km

Schedule: Trains are released at 1.01, 7.01, 13.01 and 19.01. Given the fact that a round trip takes 5 hours and 26 minutes, it means that, during a day, there is a 91% chance that one train is flying on this route. The train is alone while flying, through the former WARR tracks and on the Great Northern Line.

Facts: This train has the longest route along all trains in Heterocera. It is also the only train that needs 3 fuel changes along the way.

SLGI Train Mountains[]

SLGI Mountain

Second Life Geography

SLGI designated code: WN3

Reason: It is said that in the old times the Mountain Line crossed further than its current terminus, at Pavonia. Being located in a mountain area, with access to the picturesque mountain route 6, Pavonia has always been an attraction for railway travellers. Pavonia is a must see place for railway enthusiasts. However, there are already enough trains running along the main line between Achemon and Crenulate, where the Mountain Railway separates. So, the trains to Pavonia had to be re-routed along a flying way.

Route: To avoid overwhelming the traffic on the main line, the train follows a rather unusual path. Once detached in Achemon, it leaves the railway and turns on its flying engines, heading West, over the Inner Delta, over the Great Bridge of Heterocera. It makes a brief stop at Istar, to provide access to the Inner Delta Road Network, which is isolated from the main Heterocera Road Network. The train intersects the main line at Crenulate and heads directly on the Mountain Railway, climbing to Pavonia. From there, it turns on its flying engines again and enters deep inside the Mountains Of Heterocera, revealing their beauties. It then runs along The Great Wall, to finally reach back home, in Achemon. After this, the train heads back on the same way.

Status: As an unconventional way of transport, this train gives access to some breathtaking landscapes, offering a schedule that does not overwhelm the traffic schedule on the main line. This train exists because it was proposed by a few residents to run as it does now.

Details:

  • Continents: Heterocera
  • Main objective: reach the Mountain Railway, including the part that no longer exists
  • Secondary objectives: explore the Mountains Of Heterocera, reach The Great Wall, reach Inner Delta Road Network
  • Invisibility is used twice, in small areas.
  • Teleporting is used twice, in Achemon, to leave or return to the railway.
  • Fuel changing is not done.
  • Speed is set to 30% on railway and 40% while flying.

Length:

  • One-way trip: 1 hour and 8 minutes
  • Round trip: 2 hours and 14 minutes
  • Distance (round trip): 26.40 km
    • Railway movement: 2.91 km
    • Flying movement: 23.49 km
    • Achemon - Crenulate: 7.43 km
    • Pavonia - Achemon: 16.05 km

Schedule: Trains are released at 2.01, 8.01, 14.01 and 20.01. Given the fact that a round trip takes 2 hours and 14 minutes, it means that, during a day, there is a 37% chance that one train is flying on this route. The train is alone in the mountains while flying.

Facts: This is the only Northern train that travels more by flying than by railway movement.

SLGI Train Maritime[]

SLGI Maritime

Second Life Geography

SLGI designated code: WN4

Reason: The Maritime Line is a railway branch that basically doubles the mainline in East Heterocera, being also continued in West with a parallel track that is part of the Mountain Line. Both lines had no scheduled service and both could be serviced with one single train.

Route: The train detaches from House Of Freedom, Achemon. It follows the SLRR main line until Crenulate, then it turns on the Mountain Line towards Pavonia. From there, it continues along a branch of the Mountain Railway, heading almost parallel with the Main Line, reaching Crumbi. From there, it heads East along the Maritime Line. In many aspects, this train has about the same length like the main train to Bhaga.

Status: To avoid overwhelming the Main Line and to give an efficient schedule along both the East Mountain Line and the Maritime Line, the train follows this path.

Details:

  • Continents: Heterocera
  • Main objective: offer a scheduled train service along the Maritime Line
  • Secondary objective: offer scheduled service along the East Mountain Line, allow passengers to reach the Main Line for other directions
  • Invisibility is not used.
  • Teleporting is not used.
  • Fuel changing is done once, at the end of the route.
  • Speed is set to 30% on railway. There are high speed restrictions at some sim crossings.

Length:

  • One-way trip: 1 hour and 20 minutes
  • Round trip: 2 hours and 40 minutes
  • Distance (round trip): 23.19 km
    • Achemon - Crenulate sector: 14.51 km
    • Mountain Railway: 6.70 km
    • Maritime Railway: 5.83 km

Schedule: Trains are released at 3.01, 9.01, 15.01 and 21.01. Given the fact that a round trip takes 2 hours and 40, it means that, during a day, there is a 44% chance that one train is flying on this route. The train is the only one running along the Maritime Line.

Facts: Initially, the train ran along the Main Line to Crumbi, but was re-routed to release traffic from the Main Line.

SLGI Train Saturnia[]

SLGI Saturnia

Second Life Geography

SLGI designated code: WN5

Reason: The huge Bembecia - Hooktip Railway Complex deserves a special train to offer a scheduled service along its tracks. For this reason, a special train was designed. It also reaches further North, on the Pavonia Pass, which was a new addition to the Mountain Railway.

Route: The train detaches from House Of Freedom, Achemon. It follows the SLRR main line until it reaches Crenulate, from where it heads North on the Mountain Line. After turning back South, the train reaches the private-owned Bembecia - Hooktip Railway Complex located in Bembecia City. It then crosses the complex and heads further North, on the wooden brige of Pavonia Pass, reaching Pavonia for the second time. As it returns, it crosses the Bembecia - Hooktip Railway Complex through a different route, then travels all the way back to Achemon.

Status: There is nothing than an honor to be allowed to travel on the tracks of Bembecia City, which the SLGI team takes seriously.

Details:

  • Continents: Heterocera
  • Main objective: reach the Bembecia - Hooktip Railway Complex
  • Secondary objective: reach the Pavonia Pass, the Northern branch of Mountain Railway
  • Invisibility is not used.
  • Teleporting is not used.
  • Fuel changing is done once, at the end of the route.
  • Speed is set to 30% on railway.

Length:

  • One-way trip: 1 hour and 9 minutes
  • Round trip: 2 hours and 18 minutes
  • Distance (round trip): 19.44 km
    • Achemon - Crenulate sector: 14.51 km
    • Crenulate - Mountain sector: 4.93 km

Schedule: Trains are released at 4.01, 10.01, 16.01 and 22.01. Given the fact that a round trip takes 2 hours and 18 minutes, it means that, during a day, there is a 38% chance that one train is flying on this route. The train follows a common route with other trains along most of its path except the Bembecia - Hooktip network and Pavonia Pass.

Facts: This train was firstly limited to Saturnia, when Pavonia Pass did not exist (hence the train's name).

SLGI Train Spangle[]

SLGI Spangle

Second Life Geography

SLGI designated code: WN6

Reason: For a long time, Spangle was the furthest point on the railway map. Also, most traffic was done on the route Spangle - Tussock - Crumbi - Bhaga. This is why SLGI team designed its last train to reach spangle from Bhaga. In the 2016's, there were many free-moving passenger and cargo trains travelling along this route. Also, previous trains did not pass between Pawpaw and Malacosoma, so a special train was needed.

Route: The train detaches from House Of Freedom, Achemon. Unlike other trains and like the SLGI Train Mountains, it flies over the Inner Delta and then the Outer Delta, reaching Bhaga from the sea. Then, it heads North, along the traditional freight line, through Crumbi, Pawpaw, Tussock and finally reaches Spangle.

Status: The train's unusual route is designed in remembrance to the 2016's, when most of the traffic was along this way.

Details:

  • Continents: Heterocera
  • Main objective: offer a scheduled service on Bhaga - Crumbi - Pawpaw - Tussock - Malacosoma - Melanthia - Spangle rotue
  • Secondary objective: avoid overwhelming the main line between Achemon and Crumbi
  • Invisibility is not used.
  • Teleporting is not used.
  • Fuel changing is not done
  • Speed is set to 30% on railway and 40% while flying

Length:

  • One-way trip: 51 minutes
  • Round trip: 1 hour and 43 minutes
  • Distance (round trip): 16.02 km
    • Achemon - Bhaga (mostly flying): 6.31 km
    • Bhaga - Spangle: 9.71 km

Schedule: Trains are released at 5.01, 11.01, 17.01 and 23.01. Given the fact that a round trip takes 1 hour and 43 minutes, it means that, during a day, there is a 29% chance that one train is flying on this route. Along the way, the train partially doubles other trains. It is the only train to enter Tussock and Spangle stations.

Facts: This train follows the shortest of all Northern train routes.

Design[]

As for now, the only train design used is a modified version of the GSLR Trolley, which was donated to SLGI. If other models will be donated and are suitable for SLGI Technology, they can be released in traffic too.

Old trains[]

The following trains existed and were abandoned or replaced by other, better trains.

  • SLGI Train Bhaga (without stops, a roaming train)
  • SLGI Train Burns
  • SLGI Train Hooktip (Achemon - Crumbi - Hooktip Junction)
  • SLGI Train Islands (limited at Kama)
  • SLGI Train Mountain (limited at Campion)
  • SLGI Train Ross (version to SJRR, limited at Ross)
  • SLGI Train SJRR (Achemon - Tuliptree - Amida - Clarksburg - Drawbridge - Sutherland)
  • SLGI Train Tuliptree
  • SLGI Train WARR (Achemon - Neumoegen, flying to all WARR stations)
  • SLGI Train Yucca (Achemon - Tenera - Poecila - Plusia - Yucca)
  • SLGI Train YS + Dams (old version, simplified).

Experimental trains[]

These trains are released into traffic for research reasons. They are marked with red floating letters: EXPERIMENTAL TRAIN. On other occasions, trains might be seen in large groups, to test lag effects. Please, do not climb aboard experimental trains, they might behave strange.

Traffic issues[]

It is not recommended to increase the number of trains. This will create lag and blockings on the rail. It is far better to replace existing trains then to add new ones. If train number is increased, this will have a negative effect on railway traffic, will create lag and problems. This is why each time a new train was inserted, it replaced an existing one.

Everybody is welcomed to suggest modifications (new schedules, remove old schedules, new stops or remove existent stops).

For each destination, there is released one train every 6 hours (that is, 4 pairs of trains daily). However, since some parts of the infrastructure are used by multiple trains, the number of train services for each rail (or flying) sector, is as follows:

  • Achemon - Tiger Depot: 9 (all 6 South trains plus WARRyucca, Mountain and Spangle)
  • Achemon - Neumoegen: 6 (South trains except Historical, plus WARRyucca)
  • Neumoegen - Calleta: 5 (South trains, except Historical)
  • Calleta - Tuliptree: 4 (South trains, except GSLR and Historical)
  • Tiger Depot - Crenulate: 4 (Bhaga, WARRyucca, Saturnia, Maritime)
  • Crenulate - Pavonia: 3 (Mountain, Saturnia, Maritime)
  • Crenulate - Tenera/Crumbi: 2 (Bhaga, WARRyucca)
  • Pavonia - Crumbi: 2 (Maritime and partially Saturnia and Spangle)
  • Crumbi - Bhaga: 2 (Bhaga and Spangle)
  • Philudoria - Plusia: 2 (WARRyucca and Spangle)

Common flying routes:

  • Tuliptree - ANWR Channel: 4 (Bay, ONSR, Islands, Dams)
  • ANWR Channel - 6 (all South trains)
  • ANWR - Wengen - between 1 and 3, depending on sector (ONSR, Islands, Dams, Historical)

As one can see, except for Achemon sim, we keep a schedule of between one train per hour and one train at 6 hours, depending on route.

The main route followed by majority of SLGI trains is Tiger Depot - Crenulate in North and Achemon - Tuliptree - ANWR - Amida in South. This central route is informally called by SLGI team as Linden Highway. A road with this name really exists in Sansara, where neary protected waterways have accidentally named the same.
